Our first time special guest is:

A songwriter and performer that is a member of the Texas Music Legends Hall Of Fame. He began playing guitar at the age of 7 and was touring by 16. He has written songs for Jerry Jeff Walker, Gary P. Nunn, and Johnny Rodriguez. I would tell you more, but I don't want to give too much away.

Our featured artist this month is Robert Cross

A member of the Texas Music Legends Hall of Fame who began writing at the early age of 16. After a 10 year break he recently sat down at the piano and wrote a letter to his children and grandchildren. It is his newest work and is perfectly titled, Roots and Wings. We are excited and happy that after a ten year absence he has circled back to what he loves most..and pleased that he has chosen this gathering to debut his songs with us.

PITCH TO PUBLISHER NIGHT WITH BOBBY RYMER, JULY 21, 2026

ASGI Pitch to Publisher nights are provided to you as a valued member with your Sustaining or Annual    Membership.

If you are not a member yet, please JOIN US HERE!

Our publisher this month on Tuesday, July 21 at 7:00pm is Bobby Rymer.

This is a group session on Zoom.

This is a chance to shop your songs, meet new publishers, get feedback on your songs, and build relationships with music industry professionals. Look for the details in the weekly newsletter that comes out every Monday.

If you are interested in attending the session, but don’t have a song to pitch, please feel free to join us and listen in. It is great conversation and a way to keep up with the changing music business from someone in the thick of things.

These Publisher Pitch Sessions give us time for at least 12 song pitches, maybe a few more, and they will be pitched in the order they're received. Any submitted songs that we don't have time for will be first in line for our next Publisher Pitch Session.

As before, please send a copy of your songs (mp3) and your lyrics to greggjmiller@yahoo.com before midnight, Monday, July 20 so the meeting can run as smooth as possible.

Rising singer-songwriter and producer Lee Starr has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with Sony Music Publishing   Nashville and KP Entertainment.

Originally hailing from Arkansas, Starr arrived in Nashville in 2014 after spending time as a working musician in and around  Austin. He has worked with up-and-coming artists as a songwriter and producer, penning songs for Elvie Shane, Ashland Craft, Conner Smith and Drew Green.

Starr co-wrote Shane’s debut single, “My Boy,” which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. In the same week, “My Boy” reached the No. 4 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs with 6.6 million U.S. streams.

“I couldn’t be more excited for Lee and the team at KP Entertainment,” says Sony Music Publishing Nashville CEO Rusty Gaston. “Lee’s songs are full of heart, and his work ethic is second to none. His potential is endless and I’m looking forward to all that is to come.”

Last month's Pitch to Publisher session with Bobby Rymer was a blast! We heard some really good songs.

Bobby asked for one song from the group that was written by Patti Dixon and Jeanie Sliva!

 Congratulations and good luck!!

Join us for some great deli food and Austin Music Sunday, April 9 at 2:00pm! NeWorlDeli 4101 Guadalupe has generously given ASGI 2nd Sundays and 3rd Wednesdays at their venue to share our music.

3/29/23 - Greetings Songwriters!

The last few years have been hard for folks dealing with the uncertainty of the pandemic which hit right after our symposium in January of 2020. At that time we made the decision to suspend taking new memberships so as not to put any financial strain on someone. We also suspended in person meetings and events. We did however continue to serve the songwriting community using ZOOM.  We had as many as 4 online events a week with Song Doctor sessions and song circles. We also did online workshops and our online Symposium that we call the Zoomposium!  We actually grew our community because with Zoom we were not limited to just the Austin area. We have been serving songwriters from different parts of the USA and different countries. Because we are serving songwriters internationally we have a name change. We are now Austin Songwriters Group International, and have added chapters to make in person events easier for those of you that live in different areas. We will keep you posted as we add new chapters.

During this time we have tried to rethink and restructure to better serve our community in this ever changing world. We have created a new website that we think will be easier to navigate. We have created new activities for members like a pitch to publisher once a month for members that will be hosted on Zoom. We are continuing our Song Doctor sessions on Zoom twice a week for your song evaluations. We are scheduling both online and in person workshops, another Zoomposium in August and our annual Symposium in February of 2024. We have also created a Members Only page where we will grow a library for you to gather information and music tools to continue to grow as an artist. CHECK OUT THE MEMBERSHIP PAGE FOR A LIST OF OUR MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS.

We hope to see you at the New World Deli the second Sunday and third Wednesday of every month, or if it is more convenient for you, we will see you at our online events like the twice a week Song Doctor sessions for song evaluations. You can check out our upcoming events on the CALENDAR.

Please check out the website and sign up for the Newsletter (as we are changing email servers) and PLEASE BECOME A CURRENT MEMBER TO SUPPORT OUR EFFORTS.
