 JUDGING GUIDELINES AND DISCLAIMERS:

 1. Production quality will NOT be considered when judging songs. This is a contest about songwriting, not engineering skills: However, do your best in presenting your songs well, even if it is a simple guitar-vocal track.

 2. A judging committee consisting of music industry professionals, including songwriters, publishers, producers and radio personalities, among others, as well as the ASGI Executive Board, will participate in judging the songs submitted to the contest.

 3. Judges will use four criteria: melody, lyrics, originality and form.

Starr co-wrote Shane’s debut single, “My Boy,” which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. In the same week, “My Boy” reached the No. 4 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs with 6.6 million U.S. streams.

“I couldn’t be more excited for Lee and the team at KP Entertainment,” says Sony Music Publishing Nashville CEO Rusty Gaston. “Lee’s songs are full of heart, and his work ethic is second to none. His potential is endless and I’m looking forward to all that is to come.”

4/4/23 - ASGI In Person at New World Deli!

Join us for some great deli food and Austin Music Sunday, April 9 at 2:00pm! NeWorlDeli 4101 Guadalupe has generously given ASGI 2nd Sundays and 3rd Wednesdays at their venue to share our music.

3/29/23 - Greetings Songwriters!

The last few years have been hard for folks dealing with the uncertainty of the pandemic which hit right after our symposium in January of 2020. At that time we made the decision to suspend taking new memberships so as not to put any financial strain on someone. We also suspended in person meetings and events. We did however continue to serve the songwriting community using ZOOM.  We had as many as 4 online events a week with Song Doctor sessions and song circles. We also did online workshops and our online Symposium that we call the Zoomposium!  We actually grew our community because with Zoom we were not limited to just the Austin area. We have been serving songwriters from different parts of the USA and different countries. Because we are serving songwriters internationally we have a name change. We are now Austin Songwriters Group International, and have added chapters to make in person events easier for those of you that live in different areas. We will keep you posted as we add new chapters.

During this time we have tried to rethink and restructure to better serve our community in this ever changing world. We have created a new website that we think will be easier to navigate. We have created new activities for members like a pitch to publisher once a month for members that will be hosted on Zoom. We are continuing our Song Doctor sessions on Zoom twice a week for your song evaluations. We are scheduling both online and in person workshops, another Zoomposium in August and our annual Symposium in February of 2024. We have also created a Members Only page where we will grow a library for you to gather information and music tools to continue to grow as an artist. CHECK OUT THE MEMBERSHIP PAGE FOR A LIST OF OUR MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS.

We hope to see you at the New World Deli the second Sunday and third Wednesday of every month, or if it is more convenient for you, we will see you at our online events like the twice a week Song Doctor sessions for song evaluations. You can check out our upcoming events on the CALENDAR.

Please check out the website and sign up for the Newsletter (as we are changing email servers) and PLEASE BECOME A CURRENT MEMBER TO SUPPORT OUR EFFORTS.
